Many people find that their weight loss plans tend to be more successful when
they have a friend helping them to reach their goals. If you are managing your
weight, or are trying to lose some extra pounds, try making Yoplait Light your
partner for weight loss.
Yoplait Light has recently been clinically shown to enhance weight and fat loss
as part of a reduced calorie diet.1
In the study Dr. Michael Zemel found that when adults ate 3 servings of Yoplait
Light each day as part of a reduced calorie diet, they lost an average of 22%
more body weight and 61% more body fat than those who ate a reduced calorie
diet low in calcium. The yogurt eaters also lost an average of 81% more fat
from the middle section of their body and maintained more lean muscle than
those on the low-calcium diet during the 12-week study.
Those participants who included Yoplait Light in their diet not only lost more
weight – they lost it where it really counts – in the middle. Experts agree
that abdominal fat can increase the risk of some chronic diseases like diabetes
and heart disease. So, weight loss around your middle not only gives you a
trimmer waistline, it can also benefit your health.
Although many dieters cut dairy foods out of their weight loss plan, nutrition
experts recommend that adults eat 2-3 servings of dairy foods each day to help
them reach the recommended 1000 mg of calcium each day. Adding three servings
of Yoplait Light to your weight loss plan will help you meet these
recommendations and can help you achieve your weight loss goals.

during energy restriction in obese subjects. FASEB J. 2003;A1088:679.3.
Dr. Michael Zemel at the University of Tennessee studied 34 obese adults for 12
weeks to find out what happens when you include yogurt in a weight loss diet.2
Each participant was randomly assigned to one of two groups – one group ate
three servings of Yoplait Light each day (high calcium group) while the other
group did not (low calcium group). Both groups were instructed to reduce their
calorie intake by 500 calories a day.
Over the course of 12 weeks, the Yoplait Light group lost more weight and fat
compared to the low calcium group. They also retained more muscle and lost
inches off their waist. Yogurt eaters lost an average of:
-
22% more body weight
-
61% more body fat
-
81% more fat from the mid-section

Dr. Michael Zemel discovered the first hint of a relationship between calcium
and weight management in the late 1980’s.3 In
a study designed to look at blood pressure, men who increased their calcium
intake from 400 mg a day to 1000 mg a day by adding 2 cups of yogurt to their
diet lost about 11 pounds of body fat. At the time, these results were
interesting, but puzzling.
Since that time, studies have been conducted to explain what happened in that
early study. Researchers now believe that getting enough calcium helps to
trigger the body to burn more fat and make it harder for new fat cells to form.
Of course, calcium cannot work alone. The number of calories you eat still
counts.
